Woman injured while climbing at Devil's Lake
A 36 year-old Rockford woman suffered
head injuries and lacerations to her face when she fell
from rocks while climbing at Devil's Lake Sunday afternoon,
officials said Sunday.
Baraboo Assistant Fire Chief Tom Goethel
said the woman was climbing off-trail boulders on the
east bluff near Devil's Doorway with her daughter and
boyfriend when the accident took place.
Rescue crews from Baraboo Fire Department,
Delton Fire and Prairie Du Sac who were receiving training
at Devil's Lake responded to the nearby accident.
The rescue began at about 4 p.m. and lasted
two and a half hours.

Injured climber released from hospital
Michelle Widell of Rockford was discharged
from St. Clare Hospital Monday after a weekend hiking
accident at Devils' Lake Campground.
Bob Wilson of the Baraboo District Ambulance
Service said a call was received at 3:46 p.m. on Sunday
after Widell sustained injuries climbing the rocks on
the park's east side.
Rescue workers worked into the night,
using lighting to help them safely extricate Widell
during the lengthy evacuation. She arrived for treatment
at St. Clare at 7:30 that evening. Hospital officials
would not comment on her condition or injuries sustained.
