This Fox Snake was about 3-1/2 feet long. It is a large,
powerful snake with beautiful coloring. It has a small head
compared to its body. The coloring on this snake in the Midwest
is a yellowish-green body with black spots. The Fox Snake
is a non-venomous snake evidenced by its non-elliptical pupil.
The majority of non-venomous snakes have oval heads and not
triangular-shaped, although this should not be a reliable
means of differentiating. This Fox Snake was released. Snakes
should not be killed, as they play an important role in balancing
the rodent population.
